It teaches how to create visual interest, convey a concept, and express an emotion using two things: color contrasts and color harmonies.

Color plays a major role in each of those variables. Like composition, color is subject to forces of balance, harmony, and contrast. The sensation of color can be visually interesting in and of itself. But color also communicates. Certain colors have culturally accepted meanings. Whether an image employs color contrasts or color harmonies will steer the interpretation of a work. And color conveys mood faster than anything -- it hits us in a visceral, almost subliminal way.
I've chosen four of the seven color contrasts to work on. I decided to use Las Vegas Blvd. as my theme. I've customized my WB (white balance) to daylight to work on all of them.
How does the color contrast I chose for each image relate to the concept?
Buildings and signs in Las Vegas Blvd. are design to be visually interesting. I will explain each one of them though.
Contrast Hue- I think the contrast between red and blue brings the attention to the public. Along with the gold statues make it a dynamic sign.
Cold/Warm Contrast- The warm sun rays of the morning reflected on the colorful building of New York New York Hotel make a good contrast with the cool blue sky. Las Vegas Blvd. during the night is full of live and energy. During the morning it's peaceful but still alive. I think this picture has a feeling of harmony.
Contrast of Complements - Caesar's Palace is a glorious building, where their big statues make a balance between power and kindness. The colors around it complement with them giving a sense of harmony to the building.
Contrast Of Saturation- The low saturated colors of the building and surrounding intensify the saturated colors of the signs.
